A Happy Hippie is a monograph by the sculptress Maruša Sagadin, whose title is based on a sculpture of the same name by the artist, reproduced in the book for the first time. The publication divides into two associatively intertwined narratives: In the first part, English author Miriam Stoney meanders through drawings, sketches, and collages and model photographs of the artist. In the second part, installation photographs, sculptures and objects are accompanied by a short story by Paul Knight. In "An Infinite Surface," an insightful digression unfolds through the fictional character Karl, who describes surfaces in a continual stream of shifting references to things and interpersonal experiences. The book seeks an inclusive negotiation between cities, politics, and society within their spatial consequences and social fabrics.
